The Challenge

Chess Last Stand needed more than a basic board game clone. The product vision combined casual couch play with competitive online matchmaking, a progression system spanning Beginner through Grand Master titles, recurring tournaments with leaderboards, and a monetization layer for customizable 3D chess pieces. The team required a polished Next.js web presence for player acquisition and a Unity game client capable of smooth local pass-and-play, reliable online pairing, and visually distinctive board customization — without compromising performance on mobile devices.

Our Solution

XiteHub built a Next.js website as the player hub and brand front door, and a Unity mobile application as the core game experience. Local two-player pass-and-play was engineered for shared-device sessions, while online play connects matched opponents through backend-driven pairing. We implemented title progression tied to skill milestones, tournament brackets with live leaderboard updates, and an in-app store for 3D piece style packs. The web and game clients share consistent branding and player identity, giving Chess Last Stand a complete competitive chess ecosystem.
